Demo Notes - Multiple Hosts

1. Click "Multiple Hosts" from the PDA Demo Menu. The XML file containing the application will be downloaded and cached. (This only happens the FIRST time, unless you "Reset" the cached apps).
   
   
2. An initial host request will be performed to obtain a list of active customers. (For demo purposes, the list is obtained from only the first of the three databases).
   
   
3. Click on any row containing a customer and click "View By Location" to see consolidated Accounts Receivable information for the selected customer. Scroll the table to the right to see credit limit and host name columns.
   
   This information is obtained by doing three separate host requests over the Internet to three different databases on two physically separate servers:
   • A Progress database on Jargon Software's main Windows 2000 web server
   • An Access database on the same web server
   • A Progress database on Jargon Software's backup (co-located) web server
   
   
   
4. To update the credit limit on any of the three databases for the selected customer, select the branch, then select a credit limit change in the dropdown combobox, then click "Change Credit Limit". If you have the table scrolled to the right, you will see the selected credit limit and the total credit limit change.
   
   Any skeptics in the audience can go to a different customer and then come back to this customer (to get a fresh copy of the data from the three databases). This shows that the change has been permanently recorded in the selected database.
   
   
5. Click the "Exit" button to return to the demo menu page.
