Jargon Reader® Support for IBM WebSphere®
Minneapolis, Minn., May 28, 2002 -- Jargon Software announced today that it
has added IBM's WebSphere® to the list of supported middleware products
that can be used with the Jargon Reader® deployment engine.
This allows Jargon thin-client applications running on wireless handheld devices
(PocketPC), as well as on desktop PCs (wired or wireless), to talk to
server-based Java business applications. Client applications use standard HTTP
protocols to instruct WebSphere to run Java procedures known as "servlets"
on the server.
A new Java version of the Jargon Client/Host Interface Library has also been
provided, to simplify the formatting of data and processing commands sent
by Java business procedures back to the client. This new version is a set
of Java classes and methods that structure output into a highly compact format
to gain the highest efficiency in communicating over slow wireless networks.
