Jargon Writer®
Jargon Writer® is a powerful visual development tool that allows you
to easily and quickly create smart client business applications.
It is the only development system that uses a two-layer XML-based client architecture
to separate the high-level "rules and definition" logic from the presentation layer
of 3GL languages.
Jargon Writer features an easy-to-use point-and-click WYSIWYG visual design environment
to construct the application user interface and specify user events to be handled.
Client procedures are written in a high-level scripting language (JavaScript), aided by
a variety of script-building tools to minimize typing.
Jargon Software's powerful architecture:
- Stores client applications as XML documents that contain all GUI component definitions
and script functions in an industry-standard format for ease of development and deployment.
- Provides many visual components such as windows, buttons, checkboxes, menus, images, labels,
text fields, combo boxes, and others.
- Links GUI events to script functions that execute client or host procedures.
- Provides simple HTTP-based exchange of data and commands with host systems.
Layout Editor Features
- Jargon Writer's WYSIWYG layout editor and property sheets simplify GUI construction.
- Apps can be tested from within Jargon Writer as you go, to see how they look and behave.
You can run apps in either a PDA Emulator or a full Windows screen.
- Platform-independent components allow deployment to multiple device types.
Script Editor Features
- No need to struggle with Java, C++, C#, VB.Net or other low-level 3GL languages.
- Easily insert common script statements such as "if-else", "switch", "do while", etc.
- Fully featured search and replace capability.
- Method wizard allows finding and inserting methods for all components and global objects.
- Automatic generation of shell host procedures for all host requests defined in client script functions.
Benefits
- Create platform-independent, smart-client applications that are robust, elegant and efficient.
- Avoid costly software distribution, installation and upgrade expenses.
- Deploy applications on both wireless and wired handheld devices and PCs.
- Run high performance mobile applications at dial-up speeds on the Internet.
- Leverage XML structure to keep your application on a clean upgrade path to emerging technologies.
- Write business logic using the language of your existing back-office applications.
You will never outgrow the Jargon Software development environment as your
business logic becomes more complex or your back-office environment changes!
