Shown is a Symbol SPT1733 wireless PDA device with built in bar code scanner (in the front of the unit). It's running a Jargon Software based wireless application that performs bar coding operations with an mfgpro(tm) manufacturing application in the back office.

Jargon stores applications on the host in .XML files. These files have embedded Javascript. The Javascript is the software glue that makes it easy to integrate bar coding functionality into a wireless application.

Here is a UPC bar code being scanned by the Symbol device above. The bar code data can make its way to a backend database in realtime, or be processed locally on the wireless PDA. The choice is up to you. You get flexibility and intelligence on the handheld, online or offline.

We created this fully functional wireless Field Service bolt-on application for MFG/PRO in only FOUR days, start to finish.

Jargon Reader runs on PocketPC, PC and WinCE platforms, including Symbol wireless handheld devices.

Shown to the left is the Symbol 1733 cradled in the Monarch 6017 belt mounted printer.

Your sales and field service personnel can achieve "rental car return" efficiencies by utilizing an effective wireless "bolt on" application to your current backend application. No changes of any kind needed to your backend database application.

How would I develop such wireless applications?

What's the next step?
