How It All Works (!!)
Developing and deploying wireless applications is fast and painless with Jargon Software tools.
- The steps are simple and easy to learn.
- Existing developers can become wireless experts in just days.
- There are no complex technologies to master.
- No Java, C, C++ or HTML knowledge is needed.
Here is the process in a nutshell:
1. Install the Jargon Software tools
- Install Jargon Writer on a development PC
- Install Jargon Reader on end-user WPDA devices
- Install Jargon client/host interface library on server
2. Create the client application in Jargon Writer
- Design the screens in layout window
- Write local logic in script editor
3. Write host business procedures in the appropriate language
- For Progress, write Progress 4GL programs
- For Oracle, write PL/SQL procedures.
- For WebSphere, write Java servlets or J2EE JavaBeans.
4. Install the application on your web server
- Copy client apps (XML files) to web server
- Compress XML files for better performance
- Create startup parameter ("ini") file
5. Automatically download client apps to end-user WPDAs
- To download an app the first time, enter the startup file URL
- If a new version is available, click the Update button
6. Run application in online or local mode as coverage permits
- Online mode provides real-time database access and updates.
- Local mode stores entered transactions for later submission to server.
