4. Install the application on your web server

4.1 Copy client apps (XML files) to web server
Using the Remote Development Utility (RDU) in Jargon Writer, or with standard "ftp" or network copying procedures, copy the client app XML files that you have created with Jargon Writer from the development PC to a directory on your web server.

4.2 Compress XML files for better performance
Run the "jsicomp.exe" procedure to compress each ".xml" text file to a compressed format (".xml.gz") that reduces the size of the downloadable client app to roughly 15-20% of the original size. Here are several examples of the compression results:
App Name Original Compressed Pct
calls.xml 19,015 4,028 21.1%
demo1.xml 26,712 3,661 13.7%

4.3 Create startup parameter ("ini") file
Create a startup parameter file and copy it to the web server. This startup file will be downloaded to the WPDA when Jargon Reader is first run. The startup file values tell Jargon Reader where the xml client apps are located, the name of the initial xml client app to download, and how the URL for the server and middleware should be formatted when running remote host procedures.
