5. Automatically Download Client Apps to End-User WPDAs
To download an app the first time, enter the startup file URL
Users are given a URL to enter that specifies the startup file on the web
server. When the "Load" button is clicked, the startup "ini" file is downloaded
and its startup client app name is displayed in the list of installed applications.
When an application is selected and the "Run" button is clicked for
the first time, the client app specified in the startup file is downloaded,
uncompressed, and cached (stored) in an "Installed Applications" area in
the local memory of the WPDA device, and is then run by Jargon Reader.
To download a new version of an app, click the Update button
In the real world, programs are constantly being revised to fix bugs and
add new features. With the automatic download features in Jargon Reader,
new versions can be easily and quickly self-installed by end users without
any technical support involvement. The user simply selects the app and
clicks the "Update" button. Similarly, to remove an obsolete application,
click "Delete".
