This version of Jargon Reader can be run on the following devices:

Limitations:

The PalmOS version of Jargon Reader has the following limitations: The number and total size of loaded applications is also limited to 64K records in the DOM database that stores XML application information. Each element and each attribute of each element in an XML app takes one record in the DOM database.
 

Installation:

Jargon Reader for Palm OS requires four installation files: The "MXT" versions use the extended memory of the Palm OS and should
be used only if the STD versions do not run due to insufficient memory,
since the MXT versions are somewhat slower than the STD versions.

ROM Types for POSE:

When running Jargon Reader in the Palm OS Emulator (POSE), a suitable ROM image file must first be loaded into the POSE. These can be obtained from the Palm web site or can be copied from an actual Palm handheld. Palm VII/VIIx ROM files are:
     
    ROM TYPE FILENAME
    VII palmos35dr2-en-wc.rom
    VII debug palmos35dr2-en-wc-dbg.rom
    VIIx palmos35-en-ez-8mb-wc.rom
    VIIx debug palmos35-en-ez-8mb-wc-dbg.rom

Installation in POSE:

  1. Install POSE 3.5 according to its installation instructions.

    2. You can download it from http://www.palmos.com/dev/tools/emulator/
  2. Start the POSE (Emulator.exe)
  3. Answer 'no' to "Would you like to add an item to the Start Menu for Palm OS Emulator?" (unless you want one, then answer 'yes')
  4. Click "New" to start a new emulator session and select the ROM file "palmos35-en-ez-8mb-wc.rom" (device=PalmVIIx, RAM=8192)
  5. Right-click Install Application/Database-->Other, select mathlib.prc
  6. Right-click Install Application/Database-->Other, select SysZLib.prc
  7. Right-click Install Application/Database-->Other, select ISDKLib-STD.prc
  8. Right-click Install Application/Database-->Other, select ReaderSTD[vers#].prc
  9. Right-click Settings-->Properties and check the checkbox labelled "Redirect NetLib calls to host TCP/IP"
  10. Right-click "Save As" jargon.psf to save this session, that makes it easy to reload from a clean copy.
Testing Tip:
To remove config files for new tests, remove all "*.psf" files from the POSE working directory, and also remove "c:\windows\palm os emulator.ini".
(Note: this is "c:\winnt\palm os emulator.ini" on Windows NT/2000)
This will remove all POSE configuration data and you can start fresh from step 1 above.

Usage

  1. Start Reader.
  2. In the "Startup Page URL" field enter:

  3. Press "Load".
  4. When the installed application listbox contains an entry named "calls" select it and press "Run".
  5. Steps 2-4 may be repeated with other applications:
