Zebra Qln420 Set Up problem can cause it to not print PCL

Zebra Qln420 printer, by default, uses PCL and works as a line printer. But, it might be stuck in different graphical modes depending on circumstances.

if this happens, it won't behave as a line printer and unpredictable results can occur.

So, if the printer connects but does not print, could be because it's not in "line printer" mode.

To fix:

1. Download https://www.jargonsoft.com/support/zsu-1191269.zip unzip and install

2. Complete the installation and launch the application and hit cancel if it prompts you for a new printer installation.

3. Once you're in Zebra Setup Utilities, connect the USB cable and Windows should automatically install the driver

4. After that is done, click 'Refresh Printer List' and the printer should appear.

5. Click on the printer and click on 'Open Communication with Printer'

Copy and paste the command below;

! U1 setvar "device.languages" "line_print"
! U1 getvar "device.languages"

Click Send to Printer and you would see a reply 'Line_Print'

Once that is done, you may reconnect it back with the MC65 and try again.

NOTE:  Zebra BT set up utility will NOT be able to reset this printer property, must use the windows based utility with USB cable connection.

NOTE: Might have to set the form type to "continuous" on the printer display panel. Otherwise, it will incorrectly indicate out of media.
